Complex

History

History

In 2010 NTV-Kino company decided to establish post-production facilities for its own needs and for its partners, the makers of movies and TV-series. The main goal was to launch a modern European studio for filmmaking committed to highest professional standards; one that could work productively with international clients.

In 2011 we asked the famous British acoustic designer Philip Newell to make a design for our brand-new post-production complex. He has been creating sound studios all over the world for more than 40 years.

The building of complex began in 2012, supervised by Joules Newell. Sound equipment was carefully chosen by Branko Neskov – a renowned European sound consultant and engineer. The strategic selection and installation of video equipment was overseen by Oleg Gorchakov, a post-production expert.

In early 2013 all the installation and setup work was finally finished and NTV-Kino studios started functioning.

Philosophy

Philosophy

Our conceptual aim while designing and building the facilities was to establish a neutral acoustic and visual environment. Ascetic and functional design of the interior helps to fully channel the attention to the technical and creative aspects of production. The pure acoustics of our sound rooms and corresponding sound systems allow for the most accurate control of the film production process.

We keep up with latest trends in post-production and our hardware/software configuration was strategically assembled to remain up-to-date for as long as it is possible.

Our working team consists of dedicated professionals: sound engineers, film editors, color correctors and post-production producers who work on a free basis. This means you can rend studio time with your own crew or make an arrangement for your project to be realized entirely by our specialists.

The Technical complex

The Technical complex

The video area of our complex includes five video editing suites, one control room for digitizing and processing video footage and another for CGI and special effects work. We also have a spacious hall for color correction, equipped with DaVinci Resolve and BaseLight Four color grading systems. This space works as a fully functioning 3D movie theater with high-quality 5.1 sound. Our video editing suites utilize an AVID Media Composer platform.

The audio “wing” of our complex consists of seven studio rooms: one Foley, three ADR's, plus two Editing and a certified Dolby® Premier dubbing stage working in all existing formats, including the cutting-edge Dolby® Atmos™. All studios run on Pro Tools HDX system (versions 10/11).

Dolby ® Atmos ™

Dolby ® Atmos ™

Dolby ® Atmos ™ is the cutting-edge surround sound technology which is regarded as a de-facto standard for new-generation movie theatres.

This revolutionary technology adds the flexibility of dynamic audio objects to the traditional multichannel audio systems (5.1, 7.1, etc.) and improves sound quality through lossless data compression. Dolby ® Atmos™ provides a matchlessly realistic sound and allows for precise positioning and fluent motion of sound objects anywhere in a room – all around or even overhead the audience.

Our studio was the first in the world to be designed and built especially for Dolby ® Atmos™ format. It still remains one of the few studios that operate in this format.

The Complex stability

All the facilities in our complex are connected via central AVID ISIS media-server, which has a backup copying feature and provides exceptional stability. This system also provides access to projects from any available workplace in the complex.

The complex is equipped with a centralized power back-up system, which can work for 12 hours after an external power breakdown.
